WORLD FOOD DAY – You Eat, We Donate

Photobucket
Today is World Food Day – an annual day of recognition that brings attention to one of the most persistent global challenges – hunger.

It is not lost on us here at GrubHub that we live in an age where delicious food is just a few keystrokes away for us, while there are still sixteen million children in the U.S. struggling with hunger. That is nearly 1 in every 5 kids you see every day, right here at home. Sixty-two percent (62%) of America’s teachers regularly see children who come to school hungry because they aren’t getting enough to eat. Hunger affects a child’s development, learning, and ability to achieve a better quality of life in adulthood.

The thing is, this is an entirely solvable problem, when we work together. Today, you can help us simply by ordering.

From 12:00am – 11:59pm today, Tue Oct 16th, we’re making a donation to Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry® campaign which is ending childhood hunger in America by ensuring all children get the healthy food they need, every day.

So here’s how it works. We’ll be “rounding the change” on every order. Say you order a pad thai lunch that totals $20.07, we’ll then round up another $.93 on our end – we’ll then combine that with everyone else’s rounded change for the day and make one big donation. Yay!

So, the more you order, the more we donate.

While you’re eating, feel free to check out some great info on how you can get involved right in your community.

Let’s make a difference together!

Share our Strength, a national nonprofit, connects children with the nutritious food they need to lead healthy, active lives. Through its No Kid Hungry campaign, Share Our Strength is ending childhood hunger in America. Visit www.nokidhungry.org to get involved.

Hi. My name is Lindsey Block and I am part of Alpha Phi Omega (APO), which is a service fraternity at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. APO is planning a 5K Fundraiser for Special Olympics this coming spring. We would like you, GrubHub, to help us raise money for this event as well as our overall cause. If you are interested in helping us, please contact me at lindsey.block4@gmail.com or 2243739445. We are accepting donations of all sorts (GrubHub items for prizes or monetary donations). We are prepared to post signs stating that GrubHub has donated to our cause as well.

Thank you very much for your time.
